Prerequisite Photography 101
This class is for those who love nature and the outdoors. It is for the individuals who like exploring and discovering new things in the small world around them. Nature offers so many different and amazing things, and the best thing about this is that we often do not have to travel out of our back yard to discover this. Flowers in the back yard are full of colors and textures. We often find a wide variety of insects here and wildlife. Here in Virginia, we have many different species of reptiles and amphibians that make excellent subjects. Unfortunately, as rewarding as macro photography can be, it can be extremely challenging, especially when working outside in the field. There are many things in which one needs to take into consideration such as the amount of light available, the wind speed, the activity of the subject, and how to properly frame a shot to portray your intended message. Telling a story is important in photography, and in Nature Macro we will discuss the value of trying to tell a story that goes along with the image. We will also discuss the necessary tools to use and different settings which will help increase the students chances of a more successful image. During my time learning macro photography in nature, there was a lot of trial and error involved. In Nature macro, the students will be able to get a head start at knowing the best ways of doing macro photography and the different settings that do not work, as I have already learned. They will also learn about nature and the excitement of exploring nature and looking for new and unique things often without even having to leave the comfort of their yard.
